Thanks!
He is one of a kind...Locally raised. Local hobbyist (Juantamad on this forum) grabbed a stick with eggs from a canal and raised them up. This guy was in the batch. He gave it to me.

I'm sure this is more common than we know, just may not survive to adulthood or seen by man too often. Let me see if I pull up that pic I mentioned earlier....

How funny a year ago you were the first one to comment it was an ugly fish, and now you have it.
OMG........ you are right, they all look the same.

Still think he's ugly...never said otherwise...lol. Want to see how he'll look as an adult. Curiosity more than anything.

I got a nickname for him. Call him Mac. (Mac Tonight Moonface). LOL

Seriously though I have seen some deformity's in all Cichlids so this is not surprising to see more then a few with this type defect. It is very intriguing I will say. Just trying to imagine how they ate and defended themselves?

THey do fine. The growth rate is a little slower than norm, but he eats just as lively if not more than others. I figure they survive because they don't really stand out from a color standpoint...same risk of predation as any other cichla.

Your collection is awesome mate. You have a very similar taste in cichla as I do. I remember being amazed by your old collection a while back when you had the big tems, but these guys are gonna be in a whole new league.

I look forward to seeing the cats. I've only got a 15" L. Marmoratus and a 7" royal plec at the moment. The cichla are using up all the room.
