lol you gotta keep Q tanks super clean and IMO simple so it does the trick :) No diatom just a penguin 200 and those sponges.

Thanks Bro, I'll have some more when I can get up and around better...love the sponges they are a simple way to get great bio and polish the water too...

they are submerged, of course,
with either an airstone and air pump to create water flow or a powerhead that draws water into the surface of the sponge.
This will draw ditrus and small particulate to lodge in the sponge making for an excellent Mechanical filter.
Because of the large surface area the sponge provides, it is a perfect medium for aerobic benificial bacteria to colonize.

about 11" hes only washed out when he has fry I guess kids are stressful
