I have never experienced this but supposedly it happens all the time and the fish are not in danger.

I thought that stray electricity was one of the possible causes of HITH... or has that been ruled out? It may have been an old article I read. Either way, I'd take out whatever's causing it. It can't be GOOD for the fish, even if it doesn't appear to be hurting them.

I do agree with this. If you can find it, get it fixed.

I'm a sheet metal worker, and if I get a small metal splinter invisible to the eye, I've gotten the same thing, I stick the other hand in, and nothing.

might be correct, since i did work on my car prior to feeding the guys. after i took a shower and before i left to work i plugged everything back in and it wasnt shocking me no more, but i was still curious. so i told my brother to check earlier and he said that it didnt shock him. so hopefully that was the case.

this happened to me one time.. one time it was my lights and another time it was a powerhead.

yea this happen to me with my lights. when i was trying to do a water change. there was like a force field around the top of the tank or something because it was like jolting me everytime.

If it's mild enough, just ground the tank and keep the appliances going.
