That's a helluva name, never heard of it before.

Scientific name is Indostomus paradoxus and I know nothing about them, they occasionally come up at LFS or on importers list.

Maybe This article can help a little bit.

What a coincidence! Xen actually does have one on it!

This thread page 4 under the name Armored Stickelback! I remember reading about these.

Yes-- Day six. However, it is technically a different species, I. paradoxus, rather than I. crocodilus. Same general care, though.

i have kept them for a month and then they died. i tried it 2 times both times they only survived a month max.
I would not recommend them to anyone unless you have a breeding tank for daphnia's. They (just like seahorses and needlefish) have almost no stomach.. that means that they need to constantly eat and they only eat life food.. so thats a big problem. I tried to keep them in a shrimptank, and while the shrimp were still thriving the crocfish died. they even had food.

its still a mystery to me but i think they are almost impossible to keep long term alive unless you breed your own daphnia.

Tank size around 10gal. Live food is key to keeping these guys. Dan’s fish has them for sale from time to time and he takes the time to fatten them up. Lots of vegetation and feed multiple times a day.
