I'm with VF here, the instant I saw this I thought Caiman. Just doesn't say "croc" to me.

:popcorn:no clue...but this thread is a very interesting read so far!

Badump chsh.

It might be hard but a tooth count could help. Exact scale counts too. Pics are hard to see. On phone

It's all good Dan, I just thought I was loosing my reputation. ;) I guess I do need to start posting more or something....

I'm still sticking with Caiman crocodilus (lol, gotta love Latin names!) because that species is fairly common over a large geographical range. That mummy is basically in one piece and that particular species' hide is pretty much useless because of the osteoderms in the skin but.......it makes a great tourist's souvenir bought easily in a gift shop! This species has also been farmed for meat which is sometimes sold as "alligator".

Sweet, would make a nice collection.

No idea on an ID, but that is REALLY COOL!!!! I am studying to be a high school biology teacher and would love something like that - awesome donation.

Why not become a Marine Biologist or something of that nature, the Indiana Jones of the ocean. You don't really want to be giving lectures to good for nothing high school kids who could care less about science lol High School is all about getting laid and who's more popular.
