Above is the original ad. In comparison to CRP photos on the web, its not the cleanest specimen. We debated back and forth as to whether or not it was some form of oddball fahaka. Regardless, some people think CRP are just oddballs anyways.

Go big and get a MBU, coolest fish around.

Yeah, I read up on that. I am sorry, but that is in no way a Fahaka. There are no stripes on it per say, just alot of spots that are tight. That is 100% CRP. If you look at the example on the bottom right on the Puffer forum examples, you will see a CRP that as far as having supposid strips and markings would be closer to a Fahaka then "Painballingajs" http://www.**************.com/forum...ulatus/kaikyo_0611_3n03_crossriver01.jpg.html.
Just as some Fahaka's have different markings, it is without a doubt that CRP's would also.

Would love a Mbu, but don't have a tank large enough.

First, Yes that is a CRP, there should be no arguing about it, its a CRP. Second, you dont need a 1000 gallon tank to house an MBU. I have one at 23" in a 120 gallon wide. All he does it sit on bottom, come feeding time he eats about 10-15 pieces of shrimp and then lays back down. I also have another MBU in my 180 that is 12" or bigger that does the same exact thing, sit all day in one spot till its feeding time. I did have a 21" puffer that was a little more active than the 2 I have now but you will be perfectly fine with a smaller tank than 1000 gallons. You most likely wont see your MBU at full size of 36" anyways, Ive also heard that their max is 26" so who knows. I havent even seen any on here but I have heard of one that is 30" somewhere in Ohio that is the store mascot but for sale at $3000, not sure if its true or not but thats what I heard and I havent seen a pic and dont know what store its at. So if I were you, if you can get your hands on an MBU, get it. They do grow fast, I would suggest a wide tank such as no less than 24" but 36" preferred if you can afford it. But like I said, you will be just fine. Both my MBU are very healthy, big boy is by himself because he is a fin nipper or should I say body nipper, the small guy lives with 4 peacock bass, 3 big dats, motoro, and 2 large royal plecos and as of right now, have no problems with him but that all can change at any moment. All MBU's have a different personality. Dont believe everything you see on the web, most people here havent even own an MBU, only taking information of what they see on the net. I had 4 so far and there are a few guys on here that have and had some as well. Anyone is welcome to see my MBU's and how healthy they are, few people have already seen my tanks and they didnt complain about my tank being to small for them. If I could house a 1000 gallon tank in my apt you better believe I would have my MBU in there. MBU's are awesome fish and I will always have one somewhere in mu fish collection.

MBU's are definently awsome, but being in the military a puffer being around 30" could get really stressed with all the moving. Trying to stick with Monsters that stay under 20". Honestly as long as the filtration is good 300g-400g's is fine I think. This 1000g stuff is overkill.:screwy: And the thought that puffers like to swim more then other fish is silly. My Midas is just as active if not more then most fahaka's I have seen. Have yet to see my Midas half buried chilling out, lol.

Well there ya go. Yea most puffers are very calm, my fahaka was ALWAYS burried in the sand except when feeding his face. I can take a video right now of my 2 MBUs for an hour and they wont move from that spot. They both got there preffered spot in the tank which is in the corner. I dont care what they do, they are awesome no matter what. Filtration should always be good on any fish tank if at all possible, the 180 has 4 Emperror 400s and 1 Canister and the 120 has 2 Emperor 400's and 1 canister filter. I sure do wish I could get ahold of this guy to get that CRP.
