Hello; I lived next door to two firefighters for a few years. That they go into a burning building to look for people amazes me and they had done just that. They kinda know the ways to do it which lessens the risk a bit but still some risk. And yes there is a point in a house fire where no one can go in but what I said was "if there is any chance".Firefighters removed how many of those you know would jump into the fire for someone else's kid, never mind the dog or the cat...
Back not long ago during some of the big floods there was a story. It seems a group pulled a boat or few down to a flood area with the intent to rescue animals. I got the impression they may have passed up people and only were intent on saving pets. Hope I am wrong about that part but it was the impression I got when one of the leaders was interviewed on the news.
I get what their goal was as they stated it several times. Not saying anything was necessarily wrong with the idea unless they did leave people behind and also if they used needed scarce resources such as fuel. I also get they may have brought their own fuel, food and all but that was a detail left out.
I noticed that the other rescue groups were getting people and sometimes their pets.
