lots of fish ,driftwood, and i do over feed :D:ROFL::screwy:thats why i was trying to add the coral so no matter what the ph will stay high

more waterchanges, less feeding and no driftwood. i only feed my fish 3 times a week. i have 30 africans, 6 loaches, 3 plecos a catfish and a peacock eel in my 150. i have 3 pieces of driftwood and do 50% waterchanges every other week. my pH is 8.0 and i only have a handful of CC in my filter. You should remove the driftwood and cut back til your pH is where you want it.
looks like you got a cascade canister filter. same as mine. fill the last drawer full of CC and keep it clean. they are bad about holding crap and the longer it stayes in there, it rots and lowers your pH. maybe add some limestone rocks or tufa rock for decor. both help raise your pH

i think my fish would turn on each other if i do that :D

then if you must feed more, you must clean more. more water changes, more filter cleanings. test your water especially nitrates

Hey thanks everyone for the advise. I might just go with pool filter sand instead of the CC and place it in my filter as most of you have advised.

Thanks again

We use to have 50 african cichlid tanks. They were my passion for years. We used crushed coral for substrate in every tank.Never had a problem with cut mouths or injured fish in any way.We use to breed many many kinds.Never used driftwood for african cichlids because it lowers the ph.Never heard of an arowana with africans either but i am pretty sure the arowana will not like a 8.2 ph.
