Hello
I am looking for a easy to breed freshwater crustacean and based in the UK, can anyone recommend to me? I am wishing to set up breeding for my fahaka and have live crunchy foods to hand. Have already a shrimp tank going (hoping these breed as easily as I have read). Thanks for any advice given!

marmokrebs

exactly this^
theyre a name for marbled crayfish
a guy is selling them like 14 for $10 but only ten are guaranteed if there are any DOA's
just set up a 10-30 gallon depending on how many you need and they clone themselves around every 2-3 weeks
theyre mostly vegetarians so thats good cuhz that means

easy feeding (grocery store)
and your puffer gets both meat from the crays and gets his veggies from the crays diet

^ X3 on the Marble Crays (if you can get them) i personally keep them as well for feeding my puffers, definitely helps save money in the long run... at least once they start breeding...

Thanks very much for the suggestions, having looked at crayfish I think most species are banned in the UK though going to look into it more, theu sound perfect!

@knifegill - woodlice? The little greyshelled land insects or have I gone barmy and learning something new :)

They're not insects. They're crustaceans, complete with gills. I collect them for my fish and they are relished.

Thanks for the links really appreciated :)
Found an ebay seller selling blue/red crayfish and said they are easy to breed unsure if good price or if can post link but it seems decent..

If your just looking for crunchy foods, you could also try breeding ramshorn snails, they tend to breed like mad if given the space and food...
