If your just looking for crunchy foods, you could also try breeding ramshorn snails, they tend to breed like mad if given the space and food...
yeah this is another choice
just go to your lfs and there will be pest snails on their plants
just ask them for them and put them in a small tank with a couple plants if you want or just drop in a veggie every other night

i think the best way is to buy plants so the snails come with them and the snails can just eat the plants and you wont need to feed them

They're not insects. They're crustaceans, complete with gills. I collect them for my fish and they are relished.

do you mean those sandcrabs at the beach? i was actually considering that a while ago for when my o got bigger as a treat but idk if its safe

the marbled crays are found in Europe too. And are great breeds only require one tank. And did I say breeders I ment cloners:)

Thanks so much for the help guys :) Really appreciated. Currently have some ramshorns and cherry shrimp (only just started out though) probably stick to these for the moment until something pops along (will especially be keeping my eye out for crayfish). Thanks so much there are been some great suggestions, especially ones I would never have thought of.

So far as I know, they'r an introduced species and are invasive, they bring the lobster plague which erradicates much of Europes own crays.
