I've had these guys a little while now. They are a proven breeding pair, but this is the first time they have bred for me. It was just a matter of time since they are cryptoheros and not particularly challenging to breed, and I'm sure they would have done the deed sooner if I hadn't been moving stuff around between tanks so much.

They decided to spawn on the 3D background, on the left side of the tree trunk (male on top)

Don't know if you can see them, look closely...

They are wrigglers. I only noticed them today, because I didn't expect them to spawn ON the background, and they were a bit camouflaged. I also don't have decent lighting on this tank yet.
The female had been in breeding dress for a while, and guarding that side of the tank for a couple days.

Here are some pics of them from Cavamart, the original owner they came from:

Very cool! I hope you have some grow-out tanks ready - I imagine you will have more fry than you know what to do with before long... :nilly:

That tank is gorgeous! Nice fish aswell, although they are a bit too wimpy for my taste, hehehe.

Congrats and your tank looks really good.

Thanks. I will post some full tank shots when I'm completely done with the aquascape. It is a 125 gallon.

I'm just leaving them in the tank for now. I haven't decided what I want to do with them. Were you still interested in some?

Beautiful tank and Cutteri! I really need to do something other than clay pots:(. Take good care of the fry too.

Thanks.

Pound for pound, these fish are probably some of the toughest I've ever seen. They fear nothing in the tank--I have argentea growouts in there bigger than them and they easily dominate them. They're just so fast and agile--like little ninjas.

Congrats Jeff!! How well do you think these guys would get on with a Hypsophrys nicaraguensis pair? Maybe we could trade some fry in the near future. My nics are pretty mellow.

that little pair is awesome, they would go great with my hrps

Thanks dude. Not sure how well they would get along, but they'd look good! :D

Tough to say. I'm watchin the 2" female "check" my 12"+ male black belt as I type this with no problem. They are claiming half my 6 foot tank right now and they're hardly trying. They also beat up the big Cuban pair they were housed with when James had them.
So, you probably could, just keep an eye on them if they decide to spawn and have plenty of hiding places and break up the lines of sight. Depends on the individual fish too.
