Cryptoheros tank.....very pic heavy!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Love me some cryptos (and con-type species too), those male marbles are true brutes; especially the one in pics 3, 4, and 8. Makes me want to post pics of my crypto community in my 75... Except mine is more like a crypto-type frat house since females are not allowed :grinno:

Those aren't the marble cons those are the Rio Cubayo I got from Matt. I'd love to see more pictures of your guys!

Oh snap, I had a feeling because of the blue tails. Those are gorgeous! And ill post some soon, the cutteri are super hard to photograph with an iPhone. Especially the false female who has turned into a really big male

Keep an eye on the Cabayos. They are by far the meanest convict I've ever kept. My male killed at least 6 different fish, including my female. He is now in solitary confinement.

Thank you very much for the warning, I'm prepared to move/divide any trouble makers. What size tank do you keep your killer Cubayo in?

He lives in a 10 gallon by himself now. He'll be a show fish if nothing else. I need to find another female and try to breed them through a divider. They are really cool fish, but I fear they won't last too long in the hobby seeing that they are more demanding than your average convict.

Good luck with them.

Thank you for your insight. I hope I am able to successfully spawn these guys, they are just beautiful fish. Good luck with finding a female!

Finally got some decent shots of the female "rio cubayo" convict. She is getting ready to spawn and I'm going to be separating her from the males tomorrow. I really don't want her getting killed.

Gorgeous female, and those males are pure brutes! Not enough crypto/con-type/archocentrus love on this forum still!
