Ctemopoma ID Help? (elongated specie)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Come to think of it,mine did escape a few times.I found it wiggling on the floor one time and the next time it got out I found it dead.I'd like to see another one but I don't recall seeing them again after my purchase....It was an active little fish, always exploring the tank.I don't remember it bothering other fish but it did snap down feeder rosey reds.

Yeah, and I don't think I found how it got out.I'm going back to maybe 1995,sheesh I don't think the store I bought it from is even open anymore.

Nice, you'll have to get some pictures when it colors up, it'll look beautiful. When I was looking through pictures for an ID, I saw some Anabas, but I completely disregarded it 'cause it wasn't Ctenopoma :duh: haha good call krichardson.

Thanks but a call I might not have made had you not corrected me lol.....I even thought that the name might have been changed as my labyrinth fish book is old.It was printed in 92.

Thanks guys once again! I'm excited to have this uncommon fish in my tank. It's in quarantine at the moment. Supposedly it is maxed out on size at 5". All i know is that it may get wider due to my loaches and dats in the tank eating cut tilapia and shrimp.

Good find,enjoy it.

Krichardson _ You seem to have had every fish imaginable and lots of knowledge. I just put an albino red eye giant gourami thread up with pics. You know anything about this variant and can you chime in on my GG thread? Thanks a bunch!

Climbing Perch - Can live out of water for 24 hours and walks on land with spines near gills. Here's a video. Enjoy!

I have kept quite a few fish over the years and when I got into the hobby there was no internet so I bought and read as many books as I could.I have not kept GG's of any kind though. My old buddy who got me into fishkeeping had a huge Osphronemus but back then I thought they were ugly.My feelings about them have changed recently and I think I might try one soms day.
