Cuban Cichlid Questions...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It will work! Just make caves/hiding spots and put some plants in there. I have a pair of cubans in my 180g sa/ca community tank along with a pair of festae, they have there own corners of the tank, my other fish cruz along with them, little chasing but nothing serious, no sores or ripped fins! I guess my pairs are mild compared to some others here on MFK. Just try it, it's worth a try! Good luck

I have a Pair right now and i have to watch all the time my female killed 3 sliver dollars in 45 mins and she is only 3 1/2 in and the silver dollars where like 5in and i have jewels and a convict in with them right now and they hold there own for a little wile then they have to hid for a while. this is the 2nd time i have bought jewels for this tank and my tank is 125 gallon they are nasty as hell and they are beautiful looking fish just watch the cuban like a hawk because they will kill everything at a drop of a dime

Im actually keeping these exact 3 fish in a 135. They've been in there with a schoal of 6 schomburgkiis and a L200 for about 8 months or so. Everything seems to be going well, since having 1 argentae and 2 motas killed off to thin out the group i suppose. Im guessing that as a result from all the killings, some sort of hierarchy was established and now finally they can all coexist peacefully so to speak, in which case you'll just have to let the fish decide.
