Cuban Cichlid slow grower?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yeah i got one that only grew like a half to one and a half in in 9 mths he grew so slow that i had to take him of the 180 and put him in a 29 gal. pike cichlid that i got at the same time went from 3in to 10 in the same period of time

I've also had the opposite experience. My cubans were purchased 2 months ago at about 2 inches.. their both pushing 4" now.

one thing we fail to realize is unless we get these fish from the people who breed them you have know idea how old the fish are and if they have been stunted in their growth. i think alot of people whos cubans wont grow are probably stunted. all my cubans are raised from eggs they grow slower thand my bl nastys from eggs up to around 2 inches after that they are fine. i 2 batches that im raising right now.

Yeah my experience was the opposite my juvies grew quick like AT LEAST 1pm a month if not more, especially the dominant one but since u said there are other larger more dominant fish in the tank then that could affect his fish I have always noticed that the more dominant in a group grows the fastest with the smaller growing at extremely slower rates
