They are the only 2 endemic cichlid species from Cuba. In Cuba ramsdeni is called the Joturo, don't know the Cuban name for tetracanthus. One of the reasons the scientific names are best. Although as DarthV states above anything can happen.
I believe that was MoJo's photo on the cover of TFH's July 2006 issue. It's of his large H. carpintis 'escondido' but was mislabeled in the credits and called N. tetracanthus.
Well it sounds like I have been chasing a ghost here. When I said it looked exactly like a carpintis I was right!!! I could swear though that they said it was a glass banger that grew up to 14" though? Was that a misprint too? I thought carpinis ony got up to 10" or so. That was sure a cool specimen at any rate. (I want mojos carpintis!!!)
