I'd like some info from those that have kept Manjuaris :)

What is their growth rate like compared to other large gars like gator, longnose etc?

What is a realistic max size in an aquarium?

And also how aggressive are they?

I know they are more similar to gator gars than any other gar, and that gators are pretty much the only gars known to be aggressive, not just predatory.

Are cubans also aggressive?

Cheers,
Joe

i would also like to know.

my lfs has one but it looks like a gator gar to me and its also spotty about 6" long, do cubans look like gators and do they loose there spots as they grow?

sharp tooth I can tell you it's almost certainly a gator gar. I'm sure you know, decent size cuban gars have smooth bodies with no pattern at all, and a mottled orangey tail.

Young cuban gars don't have spots, they have a little bit of patterning, like a faint stripe kind of thing, but not spots.

They DO look like gator gars, same genus, same broad snout and teeth, but they don't have spots, and their tails look different.

How much is he asking? They are pretty rare, being that exports from cuba are banned, so they are only infrequently bred in Asia from what I gather. And they should be more expensive than a gator obviously.

well....my cuban is predatory to the max....will seize up new fishes...bt leave em alone aft awhile.....smart creature....grows relatively fast in relation to age and food....golden tan to jet black....depends on surroundings

nope....mine tends to alternate colour....i'm always home late from school so, when i get home the bugger is black....blending against the wall of the pond.
......i'll try my best though....will try and put it up asap...

I'm looking for a small one under 8". They're very hard to come by, especially here on the east coast.
