seasonal variation doesn't work with CBG (or TPG) the same as it would with temperate gar species...their environment is relatively more consistent than the seasons our gars in the US are exposed to; further, we haven't seen much evidence that simulating wet/dry seasons helps with growth much compared to seasonal cool-downs in temperate gars (and even then, we only have personal experience on our side - straight up experiments would definitely be useful). with tropical region gars, consistency in their environment should provide the best bet for growth--

he is definitely putting on size, it is just going to take awhile until he is anywhere close enough to go in with the big guys. He seems to be growing at a slower rate than my trop did (of course, that one is a bit rotund).
I really wish I would have gotten 2 or 3 more when I had the opportunity.
