something i'd like to add on though...
they are NOT easy to take care of at all. for a gar, heck even for any fish, they're really sensitive to water quality. i mean, when my water parameters were Ammonis: 0, nitrites: 0.3, nitrates: 0, the gar went completly off. you need pristine water with a pH that does not fluctuate, amongst other things. but all that said, it's a great fish!
