well i am just to pumped for these cubans!! i also found out i can get a hook up on some trops also so that leaves me trying to find spotted gar now since i have the others figured out. i just can't wait!

ok, i added some crushed coral to the tank and retested after a few days to give the 40gal time to adjust to the addtion. now my ph is up to 7.2, my kh is around 50-60ppm, my gh is 75ppm.
so i raised it all up alittle except my gh. that is staying at 75ppm. now the gars are currently kept at about 7.4 for ph.
should i doubble the amount of crushed coral i have in the tank and see where that would put me or should i just leave it. do some wc's then see how the perams fare with the current crushed coral level?

they will be about 5-6" or so. i'll be getting them in next week. they will be in a 40 breeder with 3 floridas that are around the same size. then after they have grown some i will be putting them in the 120gal. then after that they will go into one of many possibilities. i figure i have some time before they out grow the 120gal or my 180gal. i am looking at getting a 300 wide, a 450gal or a 500gal. have not made my choice yet. i will be doing several ponds in the ner future as well for various projects i will be doing.

also the cubans are on marked shrimp and tilapia fillets so i wont have to deal with getting them off live. they will also help to teach my floridas they will be with since i have not tried to switch them off yet due to their size.

i was just going over this thread again to see some of the tips in it and i noticed the price mentioning. i didn't catch it at the time, but it is way off. there is no way i could have got them for that price. i was mixing the gars price up with a price i got for a planiceps. i wish they were that cheap, but i was talking to them about the gars and cats at the same time and got mixed up. damn dyslexia makes me look like an ass all the time.
