Never owned a Cuban before I been researching online and there hasn't been a definite answer as far as describing there aggresion level... Anybody have experience and can give me some insight please
Welcome to MFK, I currently have a 4 inch Cuban and the little guy isn't overly aggressive, but it wont back down from a fight, when another cichlid is trying to scare him.
IMO Cubans are very aggressive. My 5in male used too dominate my whole 125 gallon tank and would challenge anything that entered the tank. I could not for the life of me introduce any other cichlids unless they were larger and more aggressive than he was. My female was the same way.
well from what I can find they arent as bad as RD/Midas. and lots of people on here keep midas and devils. also things like Trimacs and dovii´s and they are in with other fish, so surely although aggressive the cuban isn´t considered a majorly aggressive fish unless you keep it with other fish that are much less aggressive than it.
Mine up to around 5" and took over my 220. He killed 2 other cichlids and ripped all the other's fins. He was nasty...which sucks because he was such a good looking fish.
I have a Cuban cichlid that i believe is a male. He's about 6-7inches. Every individual has different personalities. Mine is like a dog that barks a lot but never bites. He chases but avoids lip locking with any of my fish. Def the major trouble starter in my tank lol but that's why he's one of my fav's never a dull moment lol
My cuban is in with other large CA/SA cichlids. He is on the bottom of the totem-pole in terms of aggressiveness in my tank, but he holds his own against a Jag, GT and JD.
