Cubans?!

Mine get very aggressive when breeding now (big surprise). They were kept with tank mates at various times (I believe they are about 5 years old) but now I've just thrown them in my 125 alone. Male bangs the glass when my girlfriend walks by. The fry love to kill each other.
So, I would plan to keep only one if in a community, or a pair to themselves. You could try other scenarios but make sure to have a back up plan. Great fish.

I would consider them closer to midas aggression than JD aggression. My male had no problem fighting with my female midas anytime he could once he hit the 4-5" mark.

Yeah that's most fish that it comes down to the individual fish. I was trying to get a idea of them as a whole. Everyone on here has been real helpful!

I have a 7 to 8 in female cuban a 4 in female cuban and 4 in male cuban and the 2 females are in my 125 gallon tank and they are fine with each other but go after anything else in the tank when something comes in there area. Like when i was cleaning my tank the other day my 2 females attacked my hand. my male is really aggressive towards anything that isn't a female he only attacks other males in my 75 gallon so they are aggressive and will attack when to be but not to bad

Either way, a Cuban is a nice fish to have. You might get lucky with having one that wont take over your tank. I would highly recommend a fake tree with holes in them or a cave for the cuban.
