alright so i just wittnessed my pair of yellow labs spawning. OMG my male is so agressive he has killed 3 females already! he is just relentless chasing and chasing and chasing and chasing its worse than keeping 5 male guppies with 1 female guppy! so just to let you guys pick up on whats been going on the past few weeks. i just bought a 3rd cuckoo catfish at another lfs a week ago he was like 50$ crazy expensive. he or she is about 3 inches long. my original cuckoo is now also about 3" long and this third one is slightly smaller maybe 2 inches. even though i special ordered the smaller one to be specifically to be cuckoo's i think its a hybrid it does not look 100% cuckoo blood. I just feel i need to say just how shocked i was at this lfs in Castro Valley they are amazing! the cuckoo i got their was SO passive he didnt even seem to mind the car ride home and i after putting him in the tank within 5 mins he was socializing with the other cuckoo's and they were having a chirping fest! the lady their even had a pure oxygen tank where she injected some o2 in the bag to make sure he'd be ok. straight off the bat when i asked her if she could give me a discount she's just like "well how's 30% off sound?" and im sitting their with my jaw dropping down like "what?" my local lfs in Dublin their just like "how about I charge you extra just for inquiring!" their so mean their. ok well back to the spawn, the 2 larger cuckoo's (i dont even know the genders lol) the original one started harrassing the other (fm i think) and he kept trying to stick his head in her no no (LOl) and eventually she gave in and they swam to the yellow labs (this took about 3 mins total b4 they laid their own eggs) and the first time i saw about 5 eggs come out of the fm cuckoo's butt. the male only fertilized 4 i think but the 5th might have i just didnt see. they ate like 7 eggs in the process. and the male bulldozed straight into the cuckoo's whilst the female yellow lab picked up all the cuckoo eggs. btw right as i type this my cuckoo's are swimming upside down at the top of the tank as a pair jumping out of the water. i had some previous threads a few months back about how my cuckoo and the petricola cat were constantly jumping out of the water at night. its not oxygen i have the bubblers on full blast 2 hob filters already providing REALLY intense flow at the top. but so in a few weeks im gonna seperate the fm yellow lab in her own 10 gal. btw heres the yellow labs previous spawn (no cuckoo's in the pics, old previous spawn) hold on a sec pics not working

Here's prego fm mouthbrooding yellow lab hiding. The male ripped of part of her caudal fin. It was floating at the top for a while until I threw it out. Here's previous spawn (no cuckoos in the one) excuse the algae please. The male yellow lab with the shy cuckoo. The mellow cuckoo performing rotualistic, suicidal jumping behavior with a rubberlip pleco in background. Sorry at my max pic limit

Do you think I should seperate the female yellow lab yet? I have a spare 10gal and I know how to strip her. She's a lil thin but not too bad. Nothing compared to how thin she was last spawn. I think its been maybe 2 weeks. Btw in my experience she will never spit in that 20gal. I find that the females will die before they spit because there's so many predators in that tank and with this brutal male yellow lab she can't even swim around the bottom. She hides behind the filter intake the male never finds her their.

You should really proof read your posts..anyways if I understand this right, the cuckoo catfish laid eggs, and then a female yellow lab picked up the eggs and is now holding them? quite an odd story

Congrats:)
