Floating pelleted food such as NLS would offer better over all nutrition but yes you could inject supplemental vitamin into live feeders. You could also try feeder insects such as cockroaches or crickets which would give them a variety in foods and also get them used to new foods.

Throw a cricket or mealworm in the tank. Done, your aro's off feeders...If the only reason you're wanting to use feeders is because you cant wean them off of it, honestly, throw a cricket or mealworm in there.

I'm not necessarily referring to Aros. I'm talking about predators in general. I got my Aro to take pellets at an early age. Actually I think Aros are very easy to wean off of live food.

I just dump one tablet of 50mg vitamin B1 per 500 gallons every two weeks into the sump for it to dissolve. The kind I get is any kind they sell at the supermarket. That's what ray keepers do and it is the advice of Richard Ross, a stingray expert.

So for Rays at least they can absorb it in through the skin?

I would like to hear more on this. I know that thiamin is water soluble but how is it able to pass through the skin?

If I remember correctly ross says the rays will ingest it through the water, not absorb through the skin membrane. Only vitamins without a coating will work, you can either throw them in your sump and wait for them to dissolve or crush it up finely and pour directly into your tank. Not a very common practice with ray keepers as there is no need for it if you already feed a varying diet.

If that's the case then the thiamin would be awfully diluted and probably not any positive effects.

Like I said, I'm not too sure on the process as I personally dont think it is necessary with a correct diet. The only one I know for sure who has done this is abortedsoul. You should pm him for some more info.
