yeah, i'd cut out the red devil too... in my tank, i have all african cichlids except for an 8 inch mayan, a pictus cat, and two salvini. the only problems i've run into are the male salvini beating the crud out of my kennyi, and eating the smaller cichlids i try to put in (sometimes he eats them, sometimes he doesn't, and sometimes he waits a while before eating them!)
all in all, it's not a good idea, but then again, my tank is mostly mbuna. if i would reccomend any CA to go with african (hap or mbuna), it would be the mayan at the top of the list. usually mayans will only attack other fish if they try to mess with the mayan, or if it is protecting a spawn or mate...
