I was looking at my fish closely the other day, and noticed his left pectoral fin is slightly curled at the top. When I looked at both fins in a side by side comparison I can see the fin doesnt look the same as the one on the right. In fact, I can see the fish moving the curled fin more often than the other fin. I dont know if its an injury or a disease or maybe even a deformity.

Does anyone know what this is?

What fish is this? Do you have pics? It could be genetic defect if you didn't notice it when you purchase it. Injury is always another possibility. What are your water parameters as well?

Water params are perfect, everything is perfect really. I dont think he got injured because nothing in the tank can hurt him, there is a pleco and a BGK and theres no aggression between any of them. I didnt notice the curled fin before but only did when I was watching him a few days ago. But what could be the cause most likely?

If you didn't notice it before, it could probably be genetic defect. If the fish is doing well, don't worry too much about it. Do you have pictures of the fin?

I will try to get a pic, but I think it will be difficult because its constantly moving. Its just slightly curled at the top, you wouldnt really notice it unless you look good. I didnt notice is for a long time. He seems fine and it doesnt effect him, it just doesnt look right.

I do not believe there is a cure for curled pectoral fins if this is birth defect.
