I have to take my tank to my grandparents to have them watch it for a while while my parents build a new house, I will not be able to clean it as much because they live 2 hours away.

I want to know what the current best bargain/ best canister for the money right now is at around 75-110 $

I have one rena xp3 on the tank as well as 2 emperor 400's, it is a 125 gallon, I want one more nice canister to help.

I have priced another XP3 at petsmart.com with the current promo code of "savesep" and it would be $89.24 shipped to my door.

That would not inclue media... so basically I'd probably spend another $20 on matrix or something along those lines.

Does anyone know of any CURRENT better deals?

Thanks in advance!

Ebay prices are a bit dicy...you MIGHT get an FX5 for 150.00 plus 30.00 for shipping and then again you might not. Even if you do however it'll cost more than a few bucks to fill that beast up with media.

You have plenty of Bio filtration with the E400's so IMO your best deal (with your budget) would be another XP3. split the existing bio-media between the two Renas and then fill the rest of the space with low cost filter floss...(polyester batting). This will increase your mechanical filtration capacity and extend the servace intervals.

Not only will this come in under your stated price limit...you'll have two of the same cartrage filters and thats always good from a spare parts standpoint.

Mag 350's are also VERY high on the required maintance and PITA lists...

I hear those complaints, but don't have not had any problems with mine. They can do some serious mechanical filtration and do not need maintenance very often. I run mine with biowheel hob filters and only change it every couple of months at the most...I do not use carbon with it, just the thick filter pad...

IMO magnum 350s are useless, and hot magnums are just temp mech filters. XP3's are good, but they aren't as good as a classic 2217.

The 2217 or even a 405 Fluval would be best but slighty out of your price range. I recomended the Rena...not because I like them (I'm not a big fan) but because you already have one and redundancy counts for a lot in my book. Plus theres your budget to concider.
