TIL the size of an aquarium can affect growth rates of younger tigers! Learning something new everyday :). This might explain why my now 9" GATF Has grown only 5" in the last 10 months... he was 4" when I got him back in February and he's been in a 135 all this time.

What are you looking to get for this fish?

Where did you get it from?

I'm a little concerned as well regarding the size. I have several of these fish here and even the last one I aquired is like 16" and that was cared for by a sub par LFS.

IF you're looking for fair money for it and aren't trying to get rich off it, and are NOT scared of a lil car ride we could meet up, I'd probably take it off your hands. I have some decent sized tanks here for him to put some size on..... Maybe he can catch back up to some of the fish he should have been imported with.....

Thnx for all of the insight gents. DB Junkie has helped me directly/indirectly decide to hold onto him. He is a great fish and with him now being the one at the top of the food chain I am very confident that he will start to get the size gains that she should have been.

I suspect the same as well as I have had quite a few fish seemingly stop growing until the "top" fish in the tank is removed.

dominance is everything, if you are the alpha you get the best of everything, if you're not the alpha you are along for the ride.

I think something else to consider is the difference in systems......

For me feeding a tank full of preds and feeding a tank full of preds that live over rays you're trying to reproduce has been a little different, mainly way more food....... Every tank has rays. So you have to just keep dropping food in till the fish quit eating or at least let enough down to the bottom for the rays to get full. I think a lot of predatory fish tolerate each other much better in these particular circumstances.

I'm sure the ray filtration, tank size, and water change schedule might help too.
