All exotic amphibians are illegal in South Africa, we have a massive biodiversity of frogs and the authorities are taking no chances with Chytrid fungus.
Oh wow I didnt know that well at least you can still keep native species right????

Only with permits, many of the species are restricted to small ranges and are found nowhere else.

Also your not missing out on exotic pets at least with me here in florida you have to have permits for everything thats not a domestic animal like foxes

Oh okay so for example you cant have like a pixie frog because you need a permit for it
The local reptile centre has one, so I think it depends on species. Not too sure honestly

We need permits for reptiles, don't know about other exotics like that (if they are even legal.)

Aren't pixie frogs native to South Africa?

Yes but also most birds and reptiles like burmese python and nile moniter and lots of fish like every species of arowana except silvers
While some species are excluded it is not true you need a permit for EVERY animal that's not domestic. I have monitors and snakes that are not burmese pythons or nile monitors.
