so im thinking about adding some purigen to my system, now in my sump i have the return line split, this split directs flow to a container that holds media,
i have a pix below to show how this works
cccccccccccccccccccc.jpg

now the water just passes through the media and flows out the bottom back to the sump

so do you think i would have better results with a chemical reactor?
i might even be able to rebuild my current setup in to a reactor type setup?

im not really having any issues with nitrates or clarity i just wanna improve my setup, im currently running kents nitrate sponge and it hasnt really changed any thing(nitrates hang around 20 and drift to 40/50 around wc time)

I think the way you have it now will work fine. If you aren't happy with the results pick one up later.

Absolutely. I went with a reactor because it was my best option. I did not include any areas for media when I built my wet/dry and my final chamber only holds 2" - 3" of water so I couldn't really put bags of media in there.

on my 180 im gonna add a liter to the top try of the fx5 and put some matrixcarbon in the media piece in my wetdry i quess ill pass on the reactor for now
my sump it self is only 20 gallons but it gets the job done

That sounds like a very good plan to me, I'm sure you will be very happy with the results. Please keep us posted on how you like it.

By the way, I have zero visible tannins in my water now that I have added the Purigen and the matrix carbon.

Good plan bro. I am glad to see everyone elses great experiences with the matrix carbon. I think god touched that stuff at one point while he was creating purigen.

man if its that good i might have to check my paints
lol I had to after getting home from work and adding matrix carbon in the morning not expecting a big difference. My water went from clean and pure to invisible in around 10 hours.
