they have grown extremely fast and well. they are surely voracious eaters, comparable to gulper except they do not have much of a pouch like tummy.

Just make sure there's always feeder in the tank. Otherwise, you'll find half Payara, or Payara without tail, or Payara with head was all jacked up

Very true... either you separate them into small divided tanks or have tons of food for them. It is costly to feed tons of hydrolycus every week.

1 out of my 4 has died...knew it was coming though as his tail looked "cooked" . The other 3 are still kicking ***. They have completely wiped out all the neons. On sale I was getting these guys at 5 for $5...they have eaten over 30 in 2 days. I can just imagine what it would be like to feed a few hundred of these guys.
