125 Gallon - Stocklist:
x9 Geophagus sp. 'Tapajos' (juvies)
x4 Satanoperca Mapiritensis (juvies)
x1 Swordtail. (my sons old fish)

I will probably set up a 180 gallon in the garage this summer for the OH's and add x4 Biotodoma Wavrini in with the Satanoperca Mapiritensis in this tank.

This is a pothos plant I am groing in the tank and love it. Give it a year and lets see what it looks like. This plant has some personnal meanings to me so I take good care of it.

Two different water perameters (one more extreme at least). The S. Daemon do best in very low PH & none existent hardness and LOTS of heat.

Aggression. The heckelii would stress the daemon most likely, and daemon do not do well with stress.

good to know, thanks

Looking good!! I am glad you were able to save a good chunk of your fish. I'll miss your large map though. As for spreading the fish out, I would go:

125 - OH's
180 - daemons
220 - maps, sm rottie pair, wavrini
300 - larger sevs, uaru, pike, geos, heckelii

I miss her (confirmed female) too, spent over $400 to try and save her but just could not win... :(

I would really like to keep the s. mapiritensis in the 125, tank is in the house and I really enjoy eating dinner next to them. The a. heckelii IMO should be kept in larger numbers to keep aggression at bay (no established territories) based on my research so I don't think I would have the room in the 300g to mix many other species with them. The pike can handle her own so is a good mix with the a. heckelii to keep them "humble", a semi-aggressive SA tank, agree?

Very nice set-ups!!:headbang2

How about some Haplochromites and Peacocks from Malawi..... huge possibilities with a Monster African tank!!:naughty:

My house + africans = belly up stocklist. I only keep SA cichlids. Thanks though. ;)

Well, the reason I suggested them for the larger tank was their slightly larger adult size over the OH's, plus you want the wavrini with them which are also good sized.

With the footprint of the 300 gallon, I would imagine you could handle more than just them even at an elevated number count. And it's not like they are super nasty, I've seen good size sev's handle them without issue and stress.

Man those are some nice tanks!! Beautiful fish too

Aaron (fish in a bowl, a vendor here) had a group of adult abalios a few weeks ago. Probably gone by now but might want to check.

As I mentioned I have a 7" male. Sean has a young adult. If you want we can ship them together.

Good point. Honestly I can alway just move the 125g with the OH's in the garage and put a new 180g in the dining room then I double win. The rotty pair is for my wife so that would work nicely, thinking hard now :naughty:....

Thanks Peter! I'll take a look right now. Do you know if Sean's is a female? I LOVE your male BTW. So pretty. I have been considering selling the Abalios and getting a large school of Altifrons 'Tocantins' from EdCal as well but have not decided.
