Hi I am in process of cycling a 75 gallon aquarium. I have substrate, heater, lights, and hob filter using biowheel and carbon cartidges and lava rock (some has been added from an established aquarium). My water is currently reading 1ppm ammonia and looks like between 2 and 5 ppm (closer to 2 my guess) for nitrite. Just wondering what the next step would be in making sure this tank gets properly cycled. I will continue to add more used media from my eatablished tank as I get more but its like Im having to grow little at a time cause its from a ten gallon to a 75 any tips would be appreciated

IMHO pull the carbon, not needed. showing nitrite you almost there. give another week or so and ammonia should drop you 0 along with nitrite and showing nitrate.

I would take carbon out but Im unsure what media to use instead like cost efficient but most effective is my main priority any suggestions that would work in a hob filter? Specifically emperor 400

can put floss in or another floss cartridge . not a bio wheel fan. prefer AC110, much more options. Ether way I would pull the carbon panel and put another mech filter in its spot if you have one.

This is my first time testing my ten gallon aquarium and just wanted to share the results. Have not tested for nitrates but ai guess I will just to make sure the levels arent too high but just happy to see that everything going real good this was my first aquarium just my buddy told me what to do and I have been nothing but research ever since lol. Thanks everyone who has been here to help a newbie like myself achieve great results in keeping fish healthy and happy I think I’ll stick around ;)

I tested the nitrates and it looks to be between 40 to 80 ppm. any advice on what I should do to lower my nitrates?
