Sounds cool...I dont really like P's but its up to you. If its by the counter than I would do something with lots of fish that are active and colorful but not too small, like rift lakes:headbang2but it's really up to you its not my tank :) my dad wont let have a tank bigger than 30g in my room and he only likes SW so no big tanks for me:irked:

Thanks man, I decided against pirahna since I want my pleco to live a long healthy life... I'm 85% sure I'm going with some dats, but I'm still considering the Escondido's.

too bad about your dad, but there's some awesome SW creatures out there tho, keep the faith...

So moving this thing by myself was a bia bia, but I got tired of waiting, here it is slid into the approx final resting place...

Built myself a durso out of PVC for my overflow and painted it black...

The Magnum 350's bracket that clips to the top frame was a little too thick (cause of my DIY top brace) so I used the dremel to shave a bit off (left one - I trimmed, right one - original size for comparison)

Finally, full of water, filters hooked up and ready to cycle...

I originally wanted to have both filters on one end, but after setting it up, I wanted better flow, so I moved the Mag350 to the other end. It means I'll have to trim the glass on that end, but its really got great tank circulation now. The Rio pump is supposed to put out 485 gph at 3' and the Magnum 350 is supposed to put out 350 gph (but who knows at 3' of head?) so I figured even if I only get 750 gph between the two, I should turnover 10x's an hour... :headbang2

I dumped the conditioner in and I'm gonna let it run overnight, then tomorrow I'll put in some of that benefiticial bacteria in a bottle and start feeding it amonia to cycle the tank... Probably not many exciting updates until its STOCKING TIME! :headbang2

I added some Stress-zyme bacteria and "old" water from a water change on my small tropical tank. I also added some established gravel to help get the cycle moving...

Read both build threads...Awesome job.

Regarding your stocking, IMO you may wish to look into fish that aren't so large. With the tank being rather tight (12"?) front to back, plus the awesome driftwood there isn't a lot of room for big fish. In general you may want to keep max size in the 6"to8" range. Again just my opinion, awesome job all around.

at 10x turnover you are good, not sure about stocking but that is an excellent growout for carpintis. GOOD JOB

If it is a standard 75g, then it's 18".

Thanks! Yeah, I didn't really think about the dimensions when I got it, but it was a great deal anyway. My plan is to use this as a grow-out, I'm hoping to get a year(plus) out of it and then graduate to a one hundo-something...

hows the durso working out is it quiet?

Thanks man, hopefully I can get it stocked up soon! I'm thinking about waiting until the M.A.N. meet at That Fish Place to see what they have.

The durso is super quiet, but my pipes flush real bad so I'm sorting them out now...

Unfortunately its not a standard, its a tall... But thats ok, cause I'm gonna use that nice tall glass later for a plywood build.

love the driftwood

Thanks, me too! I wasn't sure how it'd come out, but I'm really happy with it.

I'm still just running the cycle. I'm sure its ready, but I'm waiting for the East Coast MAN meet at That Fish Place to get some stock...
