Alright, so I've had the discussion with my Step Father about building custom made all glass tanks and stands for them for people. Wondered if there would be any interest. What brought about the discussion was fresh water stingrays. I've noticed that most tanks you find are tall and long but not overly wide. Not good for rays. So what we'd be building would be custom tanks for such fishy friends. think a three or four foot wide tank of equal length but only 18" deep.

As for the stands, we just built one to hold a pair of 25g tanks that you can literally park a truck on...or have a large roomie stand on and jump up and down...(Yes, that was actually done.) So...any interest?

your asking if people would buy stands and tanks from you??

Yes, more or less what I'm asking is if anyone would buy them if I built them. Maybe I'm the only one that is interested in tanks that are long and wide rather than tall...but maybe not. That's what I want to know. If there is interest in such tanks and the sands for them...then I have the ability and facility to build them.

you have competition if u wanna make business. milkman started doin the same and he says to offer the lowest price possible at unbeatable shipping prices as well. but i may be lookin for a new tank. maybe something along the lines of 8x48x30tall

I did notice Milkman doing sort of the same thing. difference being that my tanks would be glass not acrylic.

as long as price is a difference too, you shouldn't have a problem. if his acrylic tanks are cheaper then ur glass tanks then there's something wrong.

I'm sure 4ft x 4ft, 4ft x 3ft, 6ft x3ft, and 6ft x 4ft tanks would be extremely popular with ray, catfish, and polypterus keepers. Do you have any example pics and/or ballpark prices?

I don't have any pics yet as I'm currently waiting on the glass I ordered for my personal tank to come in. Once it's here and I've got a finished product for everyone to look at I'll post 'em up. As for price I'm likewise waiting on the finished cost before I say anything. So far it's been waaaaay cheaper than trying to buy one. Only issue I've really had to overcome is the frame to go around the top and bottom, but I've solved that earlier this morning. A welder friend of mine is going to pop me out a couple to size made of aluminum so as to be rust resistant. Also this will be on a by request basis, each tank made to order for each person. So if you have exact or odd dimensions to put the tank in....I'll make sure it fits perfect.
