Custom Ray tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
They don't benefit at all, with time they're likely to take them down. A small school won't hurt to fill the mid section, it's up to you. Just make sure they are plenty big enough not to be eaten, rays have small mouths but are powerful, skilful hunters that can pounce and pin a fish of some size

I was going to put the heater in the sump for aesthetic reasons but I didnt even think about them getting burned. As for dither fish I was thinking congo tetras or giant danios something with size but still not massive. And I am a big fan of frequent water changes

well hopefully that driftwood has alot of hiding places for those congo tetras haha. My guess would be they will slowly disappear at night :) even big fish will lose there heads at night. Like everyone has said already stick with hystrix and get them from a breeder on here so you don't get duped into buying orb's. do you have a picture of the wood? hopefully it has legs and the whole thing won't sit on the bottom. Are you planning on using sand? thats there preferred hiding place :)

I will definitely be using sand and driftwood with legs. As for the fish I probably wont do any if they dont care about dither fish to calm them. And when I do this I will definitely get hystrix from someone on here. Now that I am well informed I just have to budget for the project :P

The geophagus are awesome but do they stress the rays with their constant sand sifting?

Ray and geos make great tank mates. Although my Rays have a taste for my geos heads lol.

Could try a school of silver dollars, widebars are my favorite.

I do like silver dollars too. I know this question probably belongs in a different thread but cost wise custom ordering this tank would be super expensive and it would be glass. How cost effective and difficult is it to build your own acrylic tank?
