Wow! This looks amazing--- it looks so modern and sleek!!! I love the paint work. How did you create that effect with paint? It looks like very realistic wood grain.

Thanks... It's a glaze. I did a base coat of brown, then with a blackish glaze, I coated over top of the brown and used a wicker broom to make the "grain" marks. It took two coats of the glaze coat and graining to come up with the affect I was looking for but it came out quite nice. I did put the carvings on after the paint job.
I used the same stuff for the carvings too.. Did the brown base coat, then put the black glaze on top and just wiped it off. It too took a couple glaze coats. Very easy and well worth the cost of the glaze. One gl. can of glaze was more than enough for the entire project.
 
Very nice great job. I have that same stand got it used with a 90. Here's my before and after.
