What is the thickness of that acrylic? Looks almost like 1/4" on the top...

Thats really risky. The top takes a LOT of the force. My tanks got 1/2" and the holes are about the same size as yours, and I have had to scab patch 3 cracks so far. Just be ready. Honestly if the acrylic does bow more than 1/2" out in the front/back or on the top, I would run to an acrylic shop and get some reinforcements, ASAP.

Just my 2 cents, I'd hate to see it splode.

The acrylic is 1/2" all the way around, even the top. Its just the angle of the picture making it look thinner. This thing is pretty sturdy. Its only 24" tall, so hopefully I won't see too much bowing.
