Just kidding they make a great pair!! Whats the deal with the dust they sell for those?

They have incredibly thick and soft fur, and cleaning themselves with water would pretty much just cause the fur to all matt up. They bathe in dust because it helps to dry out the oils on their fur and helps to keep thier coat nice and poofy.

And at $99-$200 each, there is NO WAY I would consider using chinchillas for snake food. Especially when you consider they only have about 3 babies per litter and the gestation period is close to 4 months!

I remember when i was in middle school a girl brought in her chinchilla. We always used to watch it take dust baths it was pretty cool.
