I think he'd be happier being called handsome!

Does he have a girl?

Matt

LOL good point, but the color and body shape look so cute :)

He has a girl alright....actually came in a group of 5. Probably two males and three females. He's the dominant male, just under 6".

I've been bugging Ken for them for months...finally :D

Any thoughts on ID? They don't look like any Guianacara I've owned or seen.

I would guess either G. cuyunii or undescribed. The fact it's missing both the midlateral spot and bar is unlike any described species I know of.

I think sp. Rio Caroni (now called an actual species).

darth pike is the man with IDing these guys!

Matt

I think G. sp. Rio Caroni has been described as G. stergiosi. I've owned and bred them before:

http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=237890

These guys look very different. They are bigger, with more sloped head, and lack the midlateral spot or bar. Will try to figure out where they were collected from.

The Rio Caroni are now described, G. stergiosi. But peathenster has had the Caroni before ...

And the Caroni should be showing a midlateral spot below the lateral line.

Might have to see him in stress coloration to see the size/location of the spot or a bar.

edit: *lol* You type faster than I do peathenster!!

WOW! Stunning mate:)
