Cutting back, anyone else?

I went from having tons of small tanks to a few large tanks. Right now I have a 210g, a 150g, 3 55g for grow-outs, 2 20g for fry, and a 40 breeder. I like the idea of the larger tanks -- you can keep a decent mixed community of different fish and they're much easier to maintain. I do water changes pretty much every day, so I can't imagine adding any more tanks (though I'd love to). I said if I ever won the lottery, I'd just hire a water change guy and build a fish room.

Well I'm tired of the maintence part more than anything. I'm not even getting 2 days off a week anymore. Seems like everytime I have a day off I have to get caught up on my tanks. I'm going to end up with my 2 125's. 2 90's. 1 110, and 1 55 and I think I can deal with that but will have to wait and see. The only way I will get more tanks is if I win the lottery lol. Then I can stay home and do water changes. I like my fish tanks but I LOVE money.

I know the feeling. When we were trying to decide on what to keep and what to sell my gf was adamant that she wanted to keep the loaches, so we decided to put them in the 210g along with a few other fish and make it her tank to look after....
:grinno:

I recently downsized from about 16 tanks to 6 tanks (one of which was just set up yesterday), and a small 50 gallon pond. I had a whole rack of 10 gallons for grow out tanks, a million betta tanks, and lots of larger tanks as well. The maintenance was just insane, and honestly, I felt like none of my setups looked as nice as they potentially could because I was spending my time buying tanks, filling them with fish, and then selling/trading them when I got bored with them.

I decided to start fresh with my stock and to put all of my time and money into a few setups which I find to be much more rewarding. I am also growing out a bunch of fish so that I can raise them and watch them grow, which I am finding so interesting. Plus, my tanks actually look like conversation pieces, not just glass boxes full of fish. I currently have a 150 with CA's, a 60 cube Planted SA community, 20 Long Planted Apisto Tank, 2 5 Gallon planted betta tanks, a 50 gallon goldfish pond, and the tank I set up yesterday is a 20 Long with Honduran Red Points.

It was a hard decision to downsize, but I am much happier now and the hobby is so much less stressful :)

I have a 25g, 10g, 55g, and 72g right now. I really want to keep the 25g, and get one large tank like a 180-200g. I am getting tired of spending hours on the weekend doing water changes. My wife would like me to get rid of them all, but I just can't part w/ the 6 cichlids I have. Maybe one day I will be able to do this...

I would love to downsize but I have lots of fish that I just can't bring myself to let go. Then there's the fry that they produce.... A guy on here title a thread "I'm drowning here", which pretty much sums it up.
The funny thing is that I feel this way every spring/summer but by fall I'm right back in it like a pig in mud. lol.
