Hello all,

I purchased the terracotta trays that are normally placed under the terracotta planters. Planning on making "caves" with them for my african cichlids. Not too sure how to go about cutting the holes. Anyone with experience who can help me with my dilemma? Much thanks and have a great day!

I do it very carefully with hammer and chisel....you need to be very gentle ( which is not my forte ...)

I just got done cutting two terra cotta pots for caves for my tank. I just used a grout saw and cut off what i wanted.

I used a glass hole saw. Cuts right through.

Couple of years ago, I got a bunch of broken pots and pieces from a Lowes that was cleaning up their garden area (for free).

I just smack the end off with a hammer. Sometimes it breaks the way you want it...other times not so much. The fish don't care.

Of course flowerpots in nature have perfectly straight edges ;)
