Hi guys. I Set up a 55 gallon with new sand and a RUGF system, And i used a filter from my pacu tank which had lots of bio bacteria stuff all over it.

I have 20 Electric yellow cichlids all about 2 inches in a 10 gallon tank.

Its ridiculous and i need to get them out as soon as possible, Because they are all very stressed.

I need to get them into the tank as soon as possible but I'm not too positive what to do?

Can i add them now? Should i add a couple at a time? What should i dooo?!

Thanks

I'm wondering if i should just add about 3 every few days or so.

im sure its gonna be less stressful in the 55 than a 10 and if the filter was on another tank with just as much fish volume it is probably cycled or close to it do you have a water test kit

the only thing i would be worried about is throwing them all in at once before the tank is even cycled. you are gonna get a huge ammonia spike this way and i don't think you want to risk your cichlids. i was able to cycle my 55 safetly with about 12 or 13 but i did lose one so i don't suggest even that many

and the majority of those were very small convicts

So should i add half of them now and then about half of them in a few weeks after its cycled?

I would use the Stability by Seachem (per directions) as if you did not already have some bacteria in your filter. Better safe than sorry.

is the 10 gal they are in cycled even if it is i doubt it can handle that fish load a bigger tank with more water would be better in my opinion

Yes it is cycled, they were born in it and have been in it they're whole life. But they need to go in the 55 gallon ASAP

you need to test your water i doubt the 10 is handling the fish load well also you said the filter on the larger tank was run on a pacu tank right if so it is probably already cycled and will do better than the 10 gal tank
