Go buy some plants from the store and toss them into your tank. Cycle done.

This in my opinion is terrible advice. you'd need a fully planted tank to notice any benefits.

If your nitrites are coming up already, your ammonia should drop off soon. but youve still got a fair amount of nitrites. I think my nitrites took about a week or so to rise and fall. I'd guess you're about half way through the cycle. Just keep testing daily. when ammonia and nitrites both zero out and stay at zero for several days, id say your cycled. But it'll only be built up to support your few small danios. So add new fish slowly to allow your bacteria to grow as well to support the new load

Not at all. I've done it tons of times and never had any issue. Buying plants/decor that are currently in display tanks would be a great way to get the beneficial bacteria into his current setup without having to wait weeks for the cycle to complete.

Ok, yes established plants and etc would be a help. Was thinking you ment for their absorption qualities. I still dont think it would be insta cycle, but more of a jump start. Imo

Hello; In addition to plants from an established tank I like to add snails.
Your tank has been running fro a while so the only benefit at this point being the beneficial bacteria (bb) that should be on the shells.

When starting a new tank I add water and get the equipment running for a day. If no leaks or equipment problems I add some live plants and snails right away. The plants and snails should have some bb on them. The snails should add a bit of ammonia by way of their metabolism. Most any solid surface from an established tank should have bb biofilm.

Once you get a tank cycled then starting up a new tank is fairly simple by taking stuff from the cycled tank.
