Cycled by feeders help

can i cycle my 30 gl with feeder gold fish and guppies ? This will be their home in the future before they are fed to the monsters.

I believe gold fish are pretty bomb proof so you could cycle the tank with them but I always suggest performing a fishless cycle either (A) peeing in the tank or (B) buying a bottle of ammonia and bring the levels up to about 4ppm.

they sell stuff to cycle your tank. everyone always says they are so terrible bla bla bla but hey, they get the job done, and in much less time than feeder goldfish.

i normaly do fishless cycle just seems 2 work better

i cycled my 100G with 60 comets, all buy 20 died during the 6 week cycle, and the other 20 became food for polys and jaguar cichlid.

Make sure you feed them though.

You could also throw a piece of shrimp in there to get the ammonia levels up. Also I have read that unless you plan on keeping the tank for goldfish you should not use goldfish to cycle your tank, itll throw the param off for the fish that you plan on putting in there.

Just buy some beneficial bacteria from the lfs or the tetra stuff to help get the cycle started.
