You can artificially speed up the process with these solutions. As maintenance... I even use Nite-Out II to supplement my already established filters when doing large water changes. But for a brand new tank, it serves simply as a catalyst to jump start the reproduction and growth of this BB. It still takes time for this bacteria in a bottle to reproduce and reach the level of maturity a conventionally cycled filter would have. That is why many of these manufacturers say to add only 1-2 fish with their product. If you have a truly cycled mature tank, you can have many more fish since the mature colony of bacteria would handle their bioload. I guess what I am trying to say is that a tank being cycled is not so black and white. There are different levels of the nitrification cycle. On a scale of 1-10 of cycled tanks, I would give your tank a 2 or 3. As the days pass, that number will go up. When you get to 10, then you will be able to safely max out your tank with other fish...if that is your intention. But back to your tank, your oscar should be fine...but I would wait a couple days and test the water before adding any new fish. And definitely pick up a nitrate test kit. Good Luck
