I am cycling my 110gal tank with 3 convict cichlids approx 1-1/2" each. I have had it running for just over 2 weeks and have tested the water each day. 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, 0 nitrates every day. Should I not see a rise in levels in the first week or two or am I missing something? Thanks.

don't qoute me on this, but the tank has adjusted to the bioload of the convicts. after it has cycled for them you need to put in more you'll see a spike after each addition i think. i'm stillt rying to figure out this cycling thing.

Yeah, i dont think thats enough bioload...0 Ammonia, 0 nitrate, 0 nitrites is what I get from my tap water;

Get some BIOSPIRA (needs to be refrigerated, bring cooler on way home), I swear it works. I had a 30g that I cycled with 12 zebra danios and that took 2 months!

You have 3 tiny fish in a pretty big tank. You haven't even started cycling yet. I would put the fish somewhere else, and go fishless. Use granulated ammonium chloride, or just regular household ammonia. This allows you to precisely control your ammonia concentration, and when you're done, your bio-filter will be able to handle any load you throw at it, because you will have used an ammonia concentration far in excess of what your fish will be producing.

I would say you haven't even started to cycle yet. I'd throw 6 or 8 feeders in with the convicts, or remove the cons and go fishless.

You can use regular ammonia from the cleaning products isle of the grocery store, just be sure its 100% ammonia, no soap added. (Should be clear and no suds when you shake the bottle)

Sorry. I'll consider all threads to which you've posted closed to concurring opinions, even if there is more, expanded, or different information.

I'm gonna have to tell you what most people have already said, GO FISHLESS. It's a much faster process, and you don't have to waste time and space with fish. I went with fishless cycling and it took me 1 and a half weeks. I could control the amount of bio load of ammonia according to what fish I wanted to buy. Not to mention how much more ethical it is.
