Cycling 20 gallon questions

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
it should work. I just transfered from a 30g to a 55g and all my fish lived. It is basically like doing a 50% water change almost.

if everything including sand is transferred- its just gonna be peachy

welli just did the change. My fish seem very stressed unfortunatly. Heavy breathing from the ctenopoma. And the pleco exhibited colors never seen before, he is a rubbernose pleco and once in the new tank, he turned yellowish striped from his normal grey color. But other than that I think most things went well.

Did you check the water parameters? What test kit do you use?

What about the ammonia? Nitrite and nitrate are fine.

Edit: I see you used test strips. Could you not get API liquid?

The liquid test kits were a bit pricey for me and I never really have had to check for ammonia considering i maintain my tanks very often. But im sure there is a mini cycle going on so there is likely to be ammonia.

This might sound dumb but, is there a way to save a filter for future use.. nevermind, the bacteria would die aaaagh!!
