Cycling 240 Gallon Tank

With stability you can add fish as soon as you add the stability to the tank.
I have used stability to cycle my last dozen or so tanks and it works really good. A few things I found that helped.
Shake the bottle really well before adding the correct dosage to the tank.
Using seachem prime first to condition the water seems to speed up the cycling process. I think has something to do with it binds to certain molecules of the ammonia that still allow it's presence without it being harmful to the fish.
A small partial water change or two of conditioned water in the cycling process helps with fish well being.
The last 230 gal I did with stability finished cycling in 12 days. That was with one arowana in the tank. There will be positive ammonia in the tank but only about 1/3 of you get if you cycle without stability. Good aeration in the tank for the fish and to help bacteria multiply. The nitrite cycle took about 5-6 days from a positive result to peak nitrite, to no nitrite, and nitrates present.
Filtration on the tank was 2 x fx5's packed with matrix.

Maximum time it has taken me to cycle a tank using stabilty has been 2 weeks, and the minimum has been 10 days. All tanks had a lot of biological filtration media.

stability is a good product, but its not as good as it claims. on the bottle it says you can put fishes in anytime as long as you add the recommended amount for 7days. its not true!!! i lost some difter fishes!!! dont get me wrong, i'd perfer this product over anything i've tried before. just dont throw your aro in there because the bottle says you can.

You should not be adding fish "whenever you want" no matter what method you use to cycle your tank. Be it bottled bacteria, or the natural fishless cycle, you should only be putting fish in there once your tank has finished cycling. Its a very foolish idea to start adding fish before your tank has even finished cycling.

Maybe seachem did 1 tank out of 100 that did it in 7 days. I could not replicate this no matter if I double dosed or used the correct amount.
I have tried stability without prime before and on each of those equations, it took approx 2-2 1/2 weeks each time (with fish). I have tried stability by itself with no fish and the tank never cycled until I added started added some fish food. Obviously no ammonia source no cycle.
I have never lost a fish during cycling using stability and prime. In saying that I monitored the tanks every day and did small water changes in between with prime to lessen any possible toxic effects on the fish.

If you start screwing around with the water then its obvious that it wont cycle within 7 days...I dont seem to have a problem following instructions and getting it done in a week...Marowana only meant you cant put fish in there whenever you want, not whether or not it works in 7 days.

will squeezing out old filters in cycling tank make it faster? Within a span of a month with water changes every 5 days. that would be enough bio matter to cycle tank right? am quite excited getting my 240 this week!!
