Cycling for a crayfish?

Hey everyone, I have a crayfish that is currently in a 2 gallon tank. I'm setting up a 10 gallon tank for him but I didn't know if I would have to cycle it the same way normal fish tanks are cycled.

I need him out of the 2 gallon ASAP because I have to start breeding snails in there again in preparation for my dwarf puffers!

i never did and mine were all good. at one time i had so many i just threw them into a 55 gallon tub. thats just my experience.

You do need to cycle the tank. Ammonia is just as toxic to crayfish as it is to fish.

You need to cycle the tank as normal.

+1 The tank should be cycled. At the very least, some mature media used in the filter.

Well while it's good to be cautious, I just dumped my new crayfish in a 10g after putting in th chemicals (wait some time ofcourse), and it's perfect now.

yeah crayfish are tough. while it is better to cycle i think their strong enough to survive

That's a bad attitude to have though. You can still cause damage and harm to the animal, even if it's capable of surviving. You should go about the appropriate measures of setting up any home first, for any animal, before obtaining/relocating/moving it in.
